A showy, upright grass with light green leaves marked with wide, bright yellow, horizontal bands. Similar to Miscanthus s. ‘Zebrinus’ in looks, it differs in growth habit. The leaves of ‘Strictus’ are stiff and upward-pointing, about 1/2” wide. Foliage grows 4-5’ and the bronze flowers, which dry to a fuzzy tan, top that by another 1’. Prefers moist, fertile soil and full sun. When backlit by the sun, the yellow bands in the foliage make a dramatic effect.
